Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

📘 Population Estimation Basis – Methodological Overview 📊 The estimation of the resident population at the national and municipal level is based on a demographic approach that takes into account the three main components of population change:
👶 Natality (births)
⚰️ Mortality (deaths)
🚶‍♂️ Migration (internal and international)
The core formula for calculating the estimated population is:
Estimated population = Base population + Births – Deaths ± Migration
📅 At the municipal level, the resident population as of 31 December of each year (Pt) is calculated using the following formula:
𝑃 𝑡 = 𝑃 𝑡 − 1 + ( 𝐿 𝑡 − 𝑉 𝑡 ) + ( 𝐼 𝑡 − 𝐸 𝑡 ) P t =P t−1 +(L t −V t )+(I t −E t ) where:
🧍‍♂️ Pt – Resident population as of 31 December of year t (e.g., 2024)
📆 Pₜ₋₁ – Resident population as of 31 December of year t–1 (e.g., 2023)
👶 Lt – Resident births during year t
⚰️ Vt – Resident deaths during year t
🚪 It – Inflows (immigration) during year t
🚶‍♂️ Et – Outflows (emigration) during year t
📂 Data Sources
🗂️ The population estimation is based on a combination of statistical and administrative data, including:
🧮 Preliminary population estimates (e.g., for the year 2023)
🏠 Data from the 2024 Population and Housing Census
📈 Vital statistics on births and deaths (provided by KAS)
🏛️ Administrative data from:
🏘️ Municipal authorities
🎓 Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MASHTI)
🌍 International statistical sources, particularly from destination countries with high levels of Kosovar migration
📐 All data sources have been verified, processed, and analyzed using rigorous statistical methods to ensure a reliable, comparable, and sustainable basis for estimating the population at both national and subnational levels.
📊 Data for the period 1921–2011 are based on population censuses.
📈 Data after 2011 are based on statistical estimates.
